If fermented cold (62-66 F) it produces a pretty clean beer with a little bit of fruity esters, however if you ferment warmer (67-72 F; especially with bigger beers) it tends to produce a slightly tangy, doughy flavor. S-04 is my most used yeast as it is a reliable yeast which always successfully ferments for me and doesn't produce any strong yeast characteristics in the finished beer, therefore allowing your hops and malt to shine bright! Brilliant for heavily hopped America Pale Ales and IPAs. But if you're looking for something more along the lines of an English ale, S-04 is a better choice.
